A Big Confusing Question…
Petrol Car or Diesel Car in the current Market Scenario ?
To answer this, i have made an Excel sheet.
Comparison Between Petrol Car and Diesel Car Expenses / Ownership Cost over 8 years.
How to Use this Excel Sheet:
1. Enter the OnRoad Price for the Car/Model/Variant of your choice.
2. All the other fields are Recalculated.
This Excel Sheet calculates for an Average use of 12500 kms Per Year.
Fuel Prices, EMI Per Lac and On Road Prices are an Approximate numbers.
The calculations are done based on 3yr Loan, 4yr Loan and 5 yr Loan.
The Excel sheet Calculates the Cost Of Ownership of the Vehicle over a period of 8 Years (Assuming you will keep the car so long!).
This will give a clear picture whether you want to go for a Petrol Car or a Diesel one.
Other things to Consider:
1. Diesel car maintenance are a bit higher than Petrol Cars.
2. Petrol Car Driving experience is Better than A Diesel Car, No Matter what the Salesman Says!!
(If you are using IE and you can’t see the spreadsheet below, you will have to either Add “www.google.com” to Tools->Privacy->Sites->AlwaysAllow OR, click on the “Open this content in a new window” shown below to open the embedded spreadsheet in another window.)
The “Car Compare Summary” Tab is locked. Go to the “Change Values HERE” Tab to make changes to the Values you want to Consider.
